Serve at Calvary
The word translated "church" in the New Testament is almost exclusively the greek word ekklesia. Childcare and lunch provided! We never ask our members to do more than the Bible clearly teaches, but we do have a deep desire that every member at Calvary Bible Church would be pulling on the rope, to accomplish the mission and vision of the church together. The Discover Calvary class is designed for you to learn more about Calvary before committing to become a member. As a member, you are attesting that you understand what our church believes and are ready to join us in the mission of reaching New Orleans and the World for Jesus Christ. It is a pre-requisite for membership, but we encourage anyone who wants to become more familiar with what we believe to take the class. For as in one body we have many members,and the members do not all have the same function,so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. We only expect our members to do what the Bible expects every Christian to do. You may also donate support for the ministries of the parish without becoming a member. Well talk about how God designed His church to function, the history and beliefs of Calvary, and will go on a behind-the-scenes tour to learn about the different ministries that take place at our church. Our concern is that people have a real relationship with Christ and become members of His body, rather than a focus on an organizational commitment. As a member, you can expect to be cared for and made to feel you belong (while you make others feel the same way) in a community of people with diverse backgrounds. At Calvary we have experienced Jesus' ministry of hospitality and hope; we would love to share that with you. After you complete the Calvary Membership Course and submit a membership application, a Calvary elder will contact youto arrange a personal meeting and answer any questions you might have. All baptized Christians are welcome to participate in the Eucharist.
